In today’s increasingly digital world, cloud sovereignty has become a important issue, especially in France. While major cloud providers are primarily based outside of Europe, particularly in the United States, it is crucial for French companies to understand the implications of data management.
In my work at Devoteam, we recently produced a video to delve into these sovereignty concerns. In this content, we highlight the challenges faced by companies due to the lack of local infrastructure and the resulting legal and regulatory implications. 😀
With my 2 colleagues Hamza & Florian, we discussed about the « Microsoft Cloud for Sovereignty » kit. This program offers solutions tailored to the needs of businesses seeking to ensure the protection and sovereignty of their data. The kit is available for free on GitHub and will help you to create for example what we’re calling : Sovereign Landing Zone (SLZ) – which is a specific and different type of LDZ normally provided by the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF).
In this video, we speak about the benefits of a sovereign approach, such as improved compliance with security and data protection standards. We firmly believe that digital sovereignty is an essential issue for the future of businesses in France and Europe.
We’re also discussing the benefits of using solutions such as Azure Confidential Computing that will allow you to create and host confidential VM & containers in the Microsoft public cloud. This way of hosting your workloads is provided thanks to several partnerships with Intel, Nvidia or AMD and Microsoft.
By using specific hardware, Microsoft can offer highly secure environments where your data will be protected at rest but also in use. In the future, the provider has also stated it will be the basis for all its Azure datacenters.
With infrastructure and services designed to comply with European regulations, Microsoft positions itself as a key player in this field. We invite you to watch our video to explore these fascinating topics and understand how we can navigate this complex ecosystem together. 😉
